Indiana Harbor trip, june 17-25

The following pictures were taken on the indiana Harbor in June of 2005, enroute from Superior, WI with coal to Nanticoke, Ont.

Heading out of Duluth at around midnight on friday the 17th.

In the middle of Lake Superior, the line to the far left is the American Spirit,

we raced them all across lake Superior, and it was very close

The Prinsenborg was about 4 hours behind us in the morning , they finally passed us after the sun had set.

THe next morning we woke up just outside the Soo Locks, in the early AM,

If you look the American Spirit is entering the loc ahead of us and the Prinsenborg is also in the other lock.

The next mornig we watched the sunrise off of Sarnia in the St Clair River.

First passed the Great Lakes Trader.

And then the St. Clair.

those were the only two ships that we passed in the St. Clair, slow traffic.

TheVega Desgangnes passed us once we were out of the Detroit River Channel in Lake Erie

The crew, on their spare time made this wind generator from scrap parts, the 2 conveyormen built this.

Since its shallow near the dock, the mud gets kicked up on the turn.

Upbound.

Passing Southeast Shoal light on Lake Erie.

Just making a sharp turn into the East Outer channel on lake Erie, about a half hour from

entering the Amherstburg Channel.

The next afternoon a salty is seen in lake huron a half our out from Detour.

Upbound at the soo the next morning, on Engineers day, the Algolake is in the lock next to us.

We first passed the St. Clair in Whitefish Bay off of Isle Parisien.

We also passed the Herbert C. Jackon as we and they were turning around Whitefish Pt.

Running into some fog on Lake Superior, halfway to Keewinaw.

After fueling , the Alpena needed to fuel, so we went to anchor waiting for the Middletown to finish

loading at SMET, went to anchor facing Park Point.
